The City of Largo's Central Park Nature Preserve located at East Bay Drive and Highland Missouri Avenue was host to over 80 special anglers and their families this past April 1st. A day at the nature preserve was more than just fishing. Kids and parents had the opportunity to stroll around the 31 acre park that is virtually surrounded by water. The wet land marsh is home to over 130 species of birds, otters, red fox, alligators, rabbits and even wild turkeys, according to the Parks and Recreation guide.

Over 40 interpretive displays educate visitors on the wildlife at the park which further supports our efforts to organize programs that facilitate the involvement of handicapped kids in marine education and recreation.
Registration opened shortly before 8am with a line of eager anglers ready for action. After collecting their fishing gear, t-shirts and even snacks they were off to enjoy their day.

At the end of the tournament prizes were awarded for fish caught and every kid walked away with a smile.
